“Why KW” is a series that’s for those looking to get their license, the newly licensed and the agents that are practicing in the field right now. I remember when I was getting into the business, I was speaking to Matt, a friend of mine already in the business and I asked him this simple question…
“What do you regret most about getting started?”
“Not interviewing enough brokerages”, Matt replied.
That’s exactly what my problem was. I sat down and interviewed one brokerage. I listened to them and they told me they thought I would do well and to come back when my classes were finished. Then…silence. I didn’t hear again from them unless I was the one to reach out. So, my friend’s words rang in my ears. I heard a lot in my class about Keller Williams. Most of it was rumor, second hand information, and not very positive.
However, I’m stubborn, so I had to find out for myself. My wife and I invited Jennifer Valek, a KW agent that we knew, to lunch and that agent answered every single one of my questions, but more importantly, every single one of my wife’s questions. When we left, I asked Sarah… “What do you think we should do?”
“You know where you should be.”
She was right. I knew it. Despite the rumors and second hand information, I found out for myself. I found a company that truly cared if I succeeded or not. One that taught me how to run a business, not just “sell real estate.” A company that was more transparent than any other. Turns out it was the best decision I made.
